Samsung's A51 2020 Tested

And with the mobile mid-range segment getting even more competitive than ever, we thought now is a good idea to take a look at a type of a device that is selling in massive numbers across the globe, the Samsung Galaxy A51. With a restrained but stylish design, the Galaxy A51 is loaded with quad rear camera setup, an AMOLED display with a centrally located punch-hole selfie snapper, and a glasstastick rear back.
Samsung's Galaxy A51 has been up on the market in Europe since February while the device went on sale in the USA in April and retails at approximately $399.99/£329.

Reviewing The A51's Performance And Speed

This AMOLED display is good as we would expect from Galaxy phones}, the colours really seem so bright and vibrant with the viewing planes are really superb. And with very little to whinge about and yet those people such as Dorothy Gabriel always find at least one aspect, other than it is a little dim (yet is still legible) when it is in sunlight and circumstances are not conducive to viewing, even if you have the contrast turned up to 100%.
And here is where reviewing flagship phones such as the Oppo Find X2 Pro 5G as well as the OnePlus range is not helpful in getting some sense of a mid-range device such as the Galaxy A51.
The chipset is simply not going to match up to the top of the range chip and moving from flagship Exynos to the Snapdragon chips becomes a wakeup call then you understand that this phone is a mid-range unit and that allowances need to be given.
There's no mistaking that, this handset is laggy and slow upon occasion and I was asking ourselves whether the device had indeed recognised my contact or not when trying to open some app or use the handset.
Frankly, its a level of lag that we have not had to deal with in quite some time, such as with entry level phones like Honor's 10 Lite that can be had for a tiny £139.
As for the fingerprint scanner, I will just say that Samsung should have rather put it in the rear because I only achieved a success roughly 50% when attempting to unlock the device before ending up entering the pin code.

Galaxy A51 Styling

Owing to the glass-ticky rear panel, the Galaxy A51 doesn't look or feel like a mid-range phone, the plastic construction feels forgiving when it is in the grip because there are no sharp edges like you sometimes get on handsets that are made with back panels constructed from glass.
This subtle design element with the rear paneling is delightful and provides some class to the phone. And the branding on cheaper phones has been a smidgen over the top sometimes, Samsung's logo has been discretely placed.
You'll note a camera that, is becomes even noticeable due to what appears to be a metal circle around it that draws gaze.
Audiophiles are sure to rejoice that there is an audio connector located on the handset's bottom, sitting alongside the USB Type-C port as well as the speaker chamber.
On the top of the handset houses a microphone while the right hand edge there is a power switch and sound rocker and the SIM card tray place on the left side of the handset.
Overall it’s neat and inoffensive looking handset that will fit nicely into a normal trouser pocket easily.
